Review: Voodoo Vixen Roxy dress and Eleanor Cardigan

Things are thawing out like crazy here in NorCal, which means Spring is on the horizon. When Voodoo Vixen UK offered to send me some samples of their beautiful clothing, I Immediately zeroed in on the perfectly pink Roxy swing dress and mint green Eleanor cardigan. Both are uber-girly without being too frilly and the colors are light and Springy without being too pastel.

When I requested Roxy, I expected a lightweight cotton fabric with a pretty pink print. I got a rich-looking brocade in a GORGEOUS light salmon-pink with cream accents. Seriously, this fabric looks it comes from a robe à la Francaise straight out of Marie Antoinette’s wardrobe. It’s that lovely. Roxy is fully lined and it’s short, but not indecently so, coming to just above my knee (I’m 5’8″ plus). The shawl collar and decorative oversized buttons down the bodice give the dress a nice 1950s effect and a little belt finishes off the look. The belt is made of the same lightweight fabric as the lining, though, which may not be sturdy enough for you. In the pictures, I wear the Roxy with both her own belt and my white Deadly Dames belt for contrast.

While Roxy fits perfectly in the waist, the bust is a bit too tight. I requested the biggest size available now, which is XL (I’m 42-32-48″). The good news is that Voodoo Vixen is expanding their plus line this year, going as far as holding a model search for a beautiful plus girl to model their larger sizes. When the next size up is available, I will update my review.

The Eleanor Cardigan is a perfect match for the Roxy dress, but it looks good with jeans, too. This mint green, cropped cardigan boasts pink lace trim, rose-shaped pink buttons, adorable pockets, and pretty pink rose appliques on the front and back shoulders. I adore the colors, particularly the cool mint tone. I call this color “Conversation Heart Green” because it reminds me of one of those Valentine heart candies.

Overall, I’m pleased with the items Voodoo Vixen supplied and will shop their site in the future. I’m especially excited to try the expanded sizes!

  1. Super cute dress and cardigan! The material on the Voodoo Vixen Roxy dress sounds amazing! Good picks! You look great in both as usual! 🙂 Do you know what if any is the connection between Voodoo Vixen and the brand Living Dead Souls? I’ve seen the same brand named interchangeable in the past. Just curious.

      1. hehe. Yeah, I was thinking the same thing that maybe they had a name change to revamp their brand… or I was thinking it could be a sub-brand like how Bettie Page, Heart of Haute and Hell Bunny do… All these sub-brands make my head spin!

    1. Hi Linda! Last I heard from Voodoo Vixen, it was to be later this year. In spring they were casting plus models, so I’m assuming the fall line?

  2. I can’t wait for the plus sizes. I keep checking. Banned apparel has some plus sizes now. I wish Jawbreaker would expand also.
